Former Minnesota Timberwolves Player Separates From Supermodel

Supermodel Adriana Lima and husband Marko Jaric recently announced they are separating. Jaric, a former NBA basketball player, played for the Minnesota Timberwolves for three seasons from 2006 to 2008. The message from the pair shared with People magazine suggested that a divorce was imminent.

The celebrity duo wed in 2009 and had two daughters over the next three years. The couple’s press release revealed that they intend to co-parent the young girls going forward.

Lima is originally from Brazil while Jaric is Serbian. While their future residence was not shared with the media, it is not hard to see how their differing home countries may cause tension with their intended parenting plan. The travel logistics and time demands of two competing adults can quickly sour any good intention.

In today’s society, situations like this where parents are from vastly different locations are extremely common. While a Minnesota individual may go off to school and marry a sweetheart in California or Florida, when the marriage ends they often want to return home to the land of 10,000 lakes. This can be troubling when the couple has kids and the other spouse is from another country or even another state.

As a result, divorcing parents must take the time to work out a solid parenting plan. Child custody issues are paramount in any split. While parents may agree on a general concept of co-parenting, ironing out the specifics of visitation plans or holiday time can be extremely challenging. As a result, parents are urged to consider contacting a local St. Paul family law attorney.

These professionals have experience negotiating, drafting and enforcing parenting plants. They know what works and what doesn’t and can pass this experience on to a divorcing spouse. Despite the challenges that spouses from different locales might face, a local family law attorney can help them find a fair and favorable resolution.
